like the lotus
exactly! i'm pretty sure there's something that the buddha says about the lotus being the most beautiful flower, arising from the dirtiest water.... i just looked it up, and here's a similar quote...
“As a lotus flower is born in water, grows in water and rises out of water to stand above it unsoiled, so I, born in the world, raised in the world having overcome the world, live unsoiled by the world"
